Saint Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, Russia is the largest Russian Orthodox Cathedral in the city. At one time it was the largest Cathedral in Russia. The glittering gold plated main dome which rises to a height of 101.5 metres (333 ft) is recognisable from a large distance. During the Second World War the dome was camaflauged with grey paint to save it from air-raids.
