Latona Fountain, Garden of Versailles

Latona Fountain, a massive wedding cake style fountain in the Garden of Versailles, is one of the most attractive fountain in the Garden. The fountain depicts the statue of the Goddess Latona, protecting her twin children Apollo and Diana. The second and third tiers of the fountain have frogs, while the lowest tier has turtles and alligators. Main theme of the fountain is based on the Latona Mythology in which the Goddess turns the Lycian peasants into frogs when they derided her and refused to give water to her and her thirsty children.
