Intake Tower, Craig Goch Dam

Craig Goch Dam built in 1904 is one of the four dams in Elan Valley. Main purpose of these dams was to supply water to Birmingham, about 130 km (80 miles) away. The domed structure is the intake (aka valve tower) for the water channel. Many dams built during that period had such a tower design known as 'Birmingham Baroque'
