This work has been created from the Street View of a sculpture found in the concourse of The Palais Bourbon, the seat of the French National Assembly. Labelled as Les Galates vaincus (The vanquished Galatians) it is also called "The Galatian Suicide" and depicts a Gaul in the act of plunging a sword into his breast, looking backwards defiantly while he supports the dying figure of a woman with his left arm.
The sculpture is one of the few replicas of an early 2nd century Hellenistic original commissioned by Attalus I after his victories over the Gauls of Galatia. (Wikipedia)
