The Battle of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) was one of the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare. The city was the scene of the largest battle of World War II on the Eastern Front, with casualties exceeding two million people. Most of the city was badly damaged during the War and has since been rebuilt. However this old grain silo and a small wall of nearby Pavlov’s House are the only two structures which have been preserved as a testament to the bravery of the Russian soldiers.
