Haapsalu in Winter
Haapsalu a seaside resort town is famous for its warm seawater and curative mud. However it gets all freezed up during winters. This view was taken from the Ice Road approaching the town.
Twin Towers of Tallinn
These two towers of the Viru Gate, at the entrance to the old township of Taalinn, were once part of a larger fourteenth-century defensive wall system. The spire in the background is not of any church, but is located on top of Town Hall.
Estonian Bull
This giant bronze statute of Tarvas (a extinct mammal predecessor to modern bull) stands on the Vallimägi hill in the town of Rakvere, Estonia. The statute was erected to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the town and is reportedly the largest animal statue in the Baltic countries.
Red Cabin
A red cabin at the end of the Vehicular Ice Road over the frozen Baltic sea leading to the Island of Vormsi. A trip on such icy roads can be terrifying for the uninitiated not only because of cold but also due to fear of cracking the Ice Road and submerging the traveller in the icy cold water below. This cabin at the end of the of the Ice Road, with warm red colour must be a very welcome sight. Till I came across this I was unaware about such type of roads over frozen waters. As per Wikipedia such roads are quite common in several countries and some times are a winter substitutes for summer ferry services. (Wikipedia)
Memorial To A Sunken Ship
This is a memorial to the Russian warship Russalka (meaning: Mermaid), which was lost without trace, in the stormy sea on 7 September 1893, en route from Tallin to Helsinki. All 177 of her crew were lost. The Russalka Memorial shows an angel pointing the orthodox cross towards the likely direction of the shipwreck. (Wikipedia)
Windmill at Dusk
This Dutch style windmill located in the village of Pivarootsi, Estonia was built in 1869 and renovated in 2004. It is now part of a holiday resort.
Arch Gate at Old Tallinn
The tower (on the left and not fully visible in this view) has a strange name - Fat Margaret Tower. Built in early 16th century it got this name due to its huge diameter. At the time of its constructions, it was the largest structure in city, having a diameter of 25 meters and a height of 20 meters. The tower now serves as Estonian Maritime Museum. (Wikipedia)
Jägala Waterfall
Jägala waterfall on Jägala River in Northern Estonia is about 50 metres wide and 8 metres high. Unfortunately it is not fully visible in GSV imagery. Moreover the imagery was probably taken in lean flow period hence it looks rather small.
Ruins of Ungru Manor
Ungru Manor near Kiltsi airport, Läänemaa, Estonia, was once one of the most impressive Neo-Baroque buildings in Estonia. After IInd World War it was occupied by soviet troops and fell in disarray. It was further cannibalised by nearby Airport authorities who tore down large part of the Manor and used the rubble to fill the pot holes in the runway. (Source)
